Nelson Mandela And Apartheid

Aparthied is racial polcy of the government. Its a system were the pepole thats nonwhites did not share the same amount as the whites. A racial polcy with discrminating laws and serperating all the different ethnic groups thats nonwhite. Nelson mendela is such a hero because after 26 years in prison which became presidnt of the ANC in 1990. Nelson then abolished the discrminating laws and agreed to have nonracial elections. Mandela was such a man of peace who hated the aparthied government

African Independence

The problem in africa of building independent nations was hard because of the european imperialist who had divided up the continent also leaving the countries unprepared to face with independence. In africa they formed a movement called the negritude movement,  a movement to celebrate african culture. One of the leaders in this movement was named Leopold Senghor who then later became president of senegal. Kwame Nkrumah was the leader of the africans largeley nonviolent protest whospent several years studying in the untied states. In 1957 the gold coast took the name Ghana. Nkrumah became Ghana's president for life Nkrumah then made new roads, new schools and expanded health facilities. 

NATO and The Warsaw Pact

nato is an organization that has countries from europe and north america. The reason of the formation of nato was that the countries wanted a defense alliance so that if they were to be attacked the other countries in nato would come to help. Around 1950 nato had an agreement for the u.s to protect other members. Some of the european members had doubts that the u.s would do the agreement and protect them. In 1979 nato began a new program that would help build up the defenses and also stopping the soviet union from building nuclear weapons. European cities were protected in 1983 with the development of ballistic missiles which was made to ward off soviet attacks. The signing of the nuclear treaty began the breakdown of the warsaw pct in 1987. The warsaw pact consisted the soviet union and its satellite countries. The soviet union attacked czechoslovakia in 1956, czechoslovakia was a member of the warsaw pact. Then the warsaw pact was renewed in 1986 for 20 years. In 1991 the countries in the warsaw pact decided to dissolve.
